A course for guitar students who already have a command of the foundations. Those who can play the open position chords (Em, Am, C, G, D, A, E, and F) and change between them with relative ease. Each term we will take various songs and instrumental pieces, breaking them down to focus on technique and theory.
We examine rhythm and harmony through chords, and tone and melody though fingerstyle and plectrum techniques, with always a focus on fun through expression with this versatile instrument. The ability to read music is not necessary, although we will occasionally look at sheet music if it complements the study.
The concert at term’s end is a chance to show off the students’ new skill and confidence.
